What if I want to book services several months in the future, my manuscript isn’t complete yet, and I don’t know how many words it will be?
No problem! We can look at your genre and the typical word count and base your deposit on that. Once you do have a set word count, we can adjust the amount of the remaining fee to reflect this.
What if my manuscript isn’t ready in time for the booked date of services?
Life happens sometimes. Trust me, I’ve been there, done that! If it’s a couple days, no problem. Just give me a heads up in an email. If it might be a couple weeks, reach out to me ASAP so I can try my best to accommodate you. Remember, I may have clients already booked right after your allotted time so starting late on your manuscript may interfere with their time and that is not fair to them. If this is the case, I may still be able to work on your manuscript, but it may take longer than usual as I try to fit you in between other clients. This is also why I like to allow a four-to-six-week turnaround time.
If you realize you are way behind on your timeline and are not even close to being ready for your line or proofreading edit, again, reach out to me. We can adjust your time and you will NOT lose your deposit. Just be sure to contact me as soon as you realize this.
The only time you will lose your deposit is if you decide to cancel services altogether. If you have paid your deposit AND the 40% second payment, you may lose both the deposit and the 40%. Remember, I am running a business and time is precious for an editor. If I am able to book someone in your place, you may receive your 40% back.
Do you offer developmental editing services?
At this time, no. Currently, Laughing Lily Editing Services has a single editor but is planning for additional editors as well as other publishing services such as marketing, website design, book cover design, etc.
Be sure to sign up for the newsletter so you will be the first to know when additional services become available!
What genre do you offer editing services for?
This is a great question! My passion is to work with Christian authors in all fiction genres but my favorite genres to work with are romance, dystopian, historical, and thriller/mystery/suspense. Although I work mostly with Christian based stories, I am open to working with more secular stories that are mild in nature. That means, I will work with authors whose stories have mild cursing/foul language, minimal sexual content, and minimal drug/alcohol abuse unless it’s being shown in a negative light. Any stories that may be label as “smut,” I will not consider editing.
I don’t see an answer for my question here. How can I get ahold of you?
Please reach out to us by email at [email protected] and we will try our best to get back to you within 48 hours.
